Capacitive Discharge Welder Joins Highly Conductive Materials

In America, the manufacturing industry uses welding to manufacture at least 50% of the products used in the country. Welding has many processes and use tools to bond metals. There are almost 30 types of welding used in the manufacturing industry. Welding commonly used in the aerospace industry, construction, and infrastructure, automotive industry, manufacturing, railroads, and shipping.

Until the end of the 19th century, forge welding was the most popular method until arc welding and oxyfuel welding introduced. In the early 20th century there were world wars that led to the advances in new metal joining processes. These were more affordable and reliable and soon became more popular than forge welding. Simpler methods such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) came up and still well-liked. Later, gas metal arc (MIG) welding and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) introduced. Throughout the latter half of the 20th century, new methods introduced which included laser beam welding and robotic welding. These two methods popularly used in industrial settings using robots. Of all the types of welding used in all the many industries, MIG remains the most popular method.

The aerospace industry is a big user of welding as it needs to fuse a lot of metal. The very first commercial aircraft made using welding. Gas welding was used for aircraft repairs in the past and has been replaced by electric arc welding as it is more effective in joining a variety of metals. It was in the 1940s that the aerospace industry came up with TIG welding to work with magnesium. These days MIG welding used in manufacturing aircraft. The electric resistance welding and plasma arc welding commonly used for joining sheet metal. These processes allow for better precision.

Steel widely used in the construction industry. MIG welding commonly used in this industry as it welds steel and other non-corrosive metals well. More than half the steel produced in the world consumed by the construction industry to make buildings. Hence, the demand for MIG welding is high in construction. Broken tools and machines repaired well-using MIG welding. Shield arc welding and flux-cored welding also widely used in the construction industry. Shield arc welding a bit messy but is popular as it helps save on project cost. Where precision required plasma arc welding is employed.

In the automotive industry, MIG welding widely used. It can give strong bonds even on thin sheet metal including aluminum. For better penetration depth the use of laser MIG welding is picking up pace. Hundreds of pieces of metal welded together to make a car. For making automatic transmission components, the capacitive discharge welder used. These welders can weld highly conductive materials like copper and precious metals.

In the manufacturing industry, there is mass production. MIG welding is very popular in the assembly lines due to its speed and low cost. It is the perfect solution for manufacturers with a high output. It is adaptable and flexible, which makes it a popular choice. In the railroad industry, welding has been used since the steel rails were introduced. In the shipping industry, welding helps make cruise liners, tankers, cargo ships, and more. It helps repair ships of various shapes and sizes.
